Rumors: AMD Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 Series Specs, Release Date Set in April to June 2024

New details have emerged about AMD’s next generation Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” desktop processors, codenamed “Granite Ridge,” according to reliable leaker High Yield YT. The new chips are expected to launch around May-June 2024 and will utilize the existing Socket AM5 and be compatible with current 600 series chipset motherboards.

The Ryzen 9000 chips will use a chiplet design similar to the current Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” processors. They will reuse the same 6nm I/O die from Raphael but with revisions to enable higher native DDR5 memory speeds, possibly up to DDR5-6400 compared to DDR5-5200 currently. This should improve memory overclocking capabilities.

AMD recently announced several new desktop processors at CES 2024, expanding their portfolio to deliver premium experiences to gamers, content creators, and everyday users.

The headline announcement was the new Ryzen 8000G Series desktop processors built on the AM5 platform. These processors offer up to 8 cores, 16 threads, and integrated Radeon 700M graphics that AMD claims is the world’s most powerful built-in graphics. The top-of-the-line Ryzen 7 8700G also features a dedicated AI neural processing unit (NPU) to unlock more AI capabilities and improve productivity and efficiency.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D & 5700, Ryzen 5 5600GT & 5500GT Release Date on January 31

AMD has announced the launch of four new processors for their AM4 CPU socket. Despite having launched the socket back in 2016, AMD continues to release new chips showing their commitment to supporting the platform.

According to leaked slides from VideoCardZ, the new releases include the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, an 8-core 16-thread CPU featuring AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology. With a base clock of 3.0GHz, boost clock of 4.1GHz, 100MB of total cache, and 105W TDP, the 5700X3D has similar specs to AMD’s previous flagship gaming CPU, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. However, at just $249, the new 5700X3D comes in $100 cheaper.

AMD Released Ryzen 7 5700 with 8 Core & Up To 4.6 GHz

AMD has confirmed they are releasing a new Ryzen 7 5700 desktop CPU for the AM4 platform. The 5700 will target mainstream and budget buyers who want an affordable 8-core processor capable of up to 4.6GHz boost speeds.

The Ryzen 7 5700 is based on AMD’s Cezanne architecture, which normally denotes an APU with integrated graphics. However, AMD has disabled the iGPU on the 5700 to create a cheaper variant. The 5700 features 8 Zen 3 cores and 16 threads, with 16MB of L3 cache and a 45-54W TDP range. Base and boost clocks are set at 3.7GHz and 4.6GHz respectively.

AMD is preparing to release several new Ryzen 5000 series CPUs for the AM4 platform in early 2024, signalling that AM4 still has life left in it. The upcoming launches include the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, Ryzen 5 5500X3D, Ryzen 5 5600GT, Ryzen 5 5500GT and the Ryzen 7 5700.

The Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D will utilize AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology to offer enhanced gaming performance. The 8-core, 16-thread 5700X3D is expected to have a 3.0 GHz base clock and 4.1 GHz boost clock along with 96MB of L3 cache and 105W TDP. The 6-core, 12-thread 5500X3D will have a 3.0 GHz base, 4.0 GHz boost, 96MB L3 cache and likely a 65W TDP. Both chips will sacrifice some clock speed versus non-X3D variants to accommodate the extra cache and power requirements.

Gigabyte Confirms AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs Launch in January, Up to 12 RDNA 3 CUs

AMD’s next generation of desktop APUs, the Ryzen 8000G series (Ryzen 3 8300G, Ryzen 5 8500G, Ryzen 5 8600G, and Ryzen 7 8700G), is slated to launch by the end of January 2024 according to a recent announcement from Gigabyte. These new APUs will bring upgraded integrated graphics capabilities and overall performance improvements to AMD’s desktop platform.

Gigabyte spilled the beans on AMD’s launch timeline in a press release announcing new BIOS updates for its AM5 socket motherboards. The company stated that the AGESA 1.1.0.0 beta BIOS adds support for upcoming AM5 APUs which will debut at the end of January 2024. This confirms rumors that AMD is preparing to launch its Ryzen 8000G series on the AM5 platform in the next few months.
