Intel’s 14th generation Core desktop processors are slated to launch early next year, bringing modest generational gains. One of the more budget-friendly offerings will be the Core i3-14100, a quad-core chip already appearing prematurely at some retailers.

Listed for $150 on ShopBLT, this 65W TDP processor succeeds the popular Core i3-13100. It retains the same 4-core, 8-thread design but increases the max turbo clock speed to 4.7GHz, a 200MHz bump over its predecessor. This promises slightly faster performance for basic tasks and lightweight gaming.

Intel Targets Core Ultra 9 for 45W, Other Tiers Get 28W TDP

Intel is shaking up its TDP strategy with the upcoming launch of its Core Ultra “Meteor Lake-H” laptop processors. According to a recent report from Chinese leaker Golden Pig Upgrade, only the top-end Core Ultra 9 series will feature a 45W TDP, while the Core Ultra 5 and 7 series will be limited to 28W.

This is a departure from previous expectations that the Core Ultra series would include 45W, 35W, and 28W TDP options. The rumored Core Ultra P series with 28W TDP appears to have been scrapped entirely.

Intel is preparing to launch its 14th Gen Raptor Lake-HX Refresh lineup of laptop processors, led by the flagship Core i9-14900HX. Recently leaked benchmarks of this chip reveal it achieves the fastest single-core performance of any laptop CPU.

The i9-14900HX succeeds the i9-13900HX and features 24 cores (8+16), 32 threads, a 2.4 GHz base clock speed, and a maximum turbo boost up to 5.8 GHz. It also includes 36MB of L3 cache. The TDP is 55W base and 157W maximum turbo power.
