AMD Rep Confirmed Ryzen 9000 Series Zen 5 CPUs to be Released in the Second Half of 2024

AMD has reaffirmed its previous timeline for releasing CPUs based on its next-generation Zen 5 architecture. During the company’s Q4 2023 earnings call, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su stated that Ryzen 9000 series (or 8000 series) Zen 5 products for both servers and consumer PCs remain on track for launch in the second half of 2024.

This puts to rest speculation that AMD might accelerate the rollout of Zen 5 in response to Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake desktop chips. While no exact launch date was provided, the busy holiday shopping period in late 2024 is likely.

Rumors: AMD Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 Series Specs, Release Date Set in April to June 2024

New details have emerged about AMD’s next generation Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” desktop processors, codenamed “Granite Ridge,” according to reliable leaker High Yield YT. The new chips are expected to launch around May-June 2024 and will utilize the existing Socket AM5 and be compatible with current 600 series chipset motherboards.

The Ryzen 9000 chips will use a chiplet design similar to the current Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” processors. They will reuse the same 6nm I/O die from Raphael but with revisions to enable higher native DDR5 memory speeds, possibly up to DDR5-6400 compared to DDR5-5200 currently. This should improve memory overclocking capabilities.

AMD will Support AM5 Ryzen Desktop Socket till 2025 and Beyond

AMD has reiterated its plans to support the AM5 socket for future Ryzen desktop processors through 2025 and beyond. The AM5 platform was first introduced in 2022 for AMD’s latest Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 series desktop CPUs.
