Intel Core i9-14900KS Release Date is Set on March 14th

Intel’s top-of-the-line desktop processor for the LGA-1700 platform, the Core i9-14900KS, is slated for release on March 14th. This launch marks the final high-end CPU for the aging LGA-1700 socket and the last desktop chip to use Intel’s old naming convention before the company transitions to a new platform later this year.

The Core i9-14900KS has been shipping to distributors and overclockers for weeks, so its imminent arrival is no surprise. Intel has followed a pattern of releasing “KS” special edition models at the end of each generation, offering slightly higher clock speeds than the standard K-series flagship.

Intel Lunar Lake Leaked, Shows 8 Cores & 8 Threads and Boosted at 2.8 GHz

Early test silicon for Intel’s upcoming Lunar Lake CPU has leaked, revealing key specifications. The 8-core, 8-thread Lunar Lake chip is likely to be focused on mobile efficiency. The boost clock speed is 2.8GHz, which is common for early test chips and will likely increase.

The most interesting aspect of the leak is the cache configuration. Lunar Lake apparently has a massive 14MB of L2 cache, actually exceeding the 12MB L3 cache. Typically, the higher-level L3 cache has significantly more capacity than L2. Having less L3 than L2 cache is highly unusual and may indicate incorrect readings. However, the leaker believes the small 12MB L3 size to be accurate.

Intel Arrow Lake-S Sample Features 24 Cores & 24 Threads (No AVX-512 Support)

Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs may feature a shift away from hyperthreading technology, according to recent leaks. A sample 24-core, 24-thread Arrow Lake-S chip was spotted in an Intel test machine, running at 3GHz.

Previous information indicated Arrow Lake-S would have up to 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. With 16 threads from the efficiency cores and 8 from the performance cores, the total thread count should be 24. This suggests the performance cores on Arrow Lake-S may lack hyperthreading support.
