AMD Zen 4 “Raphael” CPUs Feature Improved Temperature and Power Management

According to latest rumors, the upcoming AMD Zen 4 Raphael desktop CPUs will feature with improved temperature and power management. AMD Zen 4 Raphael desktop CPUs are expected to be released in the middle or late 2022, and for AM5 socket would allegedly support dual-channel DDR5 memory as well as PCIe Gen4.0.

According to Igor’s Lab report, AMD has prepared a few new improvements that will make temperature reading and power management easier for PC enthusiasts. Currently, the reported CPU temperature is called Tcontrol, which is what the cooling solution sees. If the Tctl is high, the fans spin up and cool the system. If the Tctl is low, the fans slow down and reduce noise.
